But the Pacific is too cold for swimming that far north, so he swam mostly in lakes and rivers as a kid. While he sometimes pines for the ocean, Vermont's vast water landscape provides him with endless opportunities to connect with his lifelong passion of swimming in fresh, natural open waters.
